A common bigoted argument I see today is dehumanizing transwomen down to chromosomes. It never happened directly at me, but it makes me very upset when I see this directed at transwomen in general or less passable transwomen. Even gender definitions today reference sex socially versus biologically.
“The scientific fact is that XX = woman, and XY = man. Anything else is delusion.”
Biologically, not socially. Just as profit value is different in economics versus accounting. Accounting profit would be a quite literal number value for profit based on the loss from physical cost, where economically there would be lots of factors involved such as lost potential, time, supply and demand, etc. Both are profit, but are completely different in their own retrospect. There’s seriously something wrong with you if you go around and see XY’s and XX’s over people’s heads. This could also dive into psychology and lack of empathy.
Everything since humans have been around has been constructed to our liking, including the concept of XX and XY chromosomes with gender. If gender is so set in stone by chromosomes why can gender features be so easily altered today through HRT, surgery, natural hormones, brain chemistry, etc? Studies have already been done and show that hormones affect the brain to appear indistinguishable to the opposite sex in trans people. So if someone has a brain like a male and XX chromosomes, who’s to say that person is more a woman than man? Why is DNA more important than the brain, the very thing that allows you to be who you are?
This even goes into the animal kingdom. Animals in general have no concept of male or female traits, they work on instinct. For example some male animals will completely switch to nesting like a mother or other feminine traits just because they want to. Some males will even purposely act like females to be mounted by other males. This gives the appearance that humans are very socially different than other animals when it comes to gender and tend to stick by a set of black and white traits from the time we’re born depending on our gender.
There is one flaw humans have over other animals and that’s over reasoning. We like to put everything into boxes even if labeling doesn’t matter for the situation. For some reason instead of be free spirited like animals we’re subconsciously taught that there are consequences for acting like the opposite gender at a young age. You see there’s a big difference in gender socially versus biologically. Other than specific topics in science there really isn’t a need to reference gender biologically. In almost all instances today gender would be referenced socially unless in the science or medical field. Unless you’re looking to dissect me there isn’t a need to know what chromosomes I have or what’s between my legs at the bar.
