It has been over 1 year with my boyfriend Matthew. To celebrate this anniversary I bought him a custom made star sky monument. This is a special piece because it represents the night sky of when we had our first major date at Disney Springs. The quote is taken from Swiss Psychologist Carl Jung. Which to paraphrase means to understand the world/people around you, you must first understand yourself. The custom art is unique in that it uses any exact date and time to show you the representation of the constellations at the time.

I found this picture of me from a year ago and decided to use this time and place for it. Looking back on these photos makes me realize how far I’ve come in my transition and how many changes I’ve gone through. This was a special night for us because we also got to see SpaceX’s first production Satellite launch for the new Starlink Broadband Network. It was actually launched within 15 mins of this picture being taken. SpaceX’s Starlink shot off over this balloon. The launch pad is far east where Cape Canaveral is. It wasn’t nearly as good of a view as the Cape Canaveral launches we see from our front yard, but it was very special nonetheless.
I’m sure Matthew loved it since he was an employee of NASA for a long time before deciding to leave. Getting the date and time of this photo was not easy because the original photo was deleted from my phone. It took a lot of digging. I found multiple versions of the photo that came close to the date, but not exactly. I got lucky that I was able to find the original photo on my laptop and was able to look at the properties of the photo to confirm the exact date and time the photo was taken.

The last thing I wanted to do was to confirm that the night sky on the art piece was an actual representation of the night sky of the date and time I gave them. I was a little skeptical at first because of the right angle constellation lines in the center of the art. I actually found an application that calculates the constellation lines of the sky based on date and time. I entered an Orlando FL zip code, 5/23/19, and 10:13 PM. To my surprise the constellation pattern was exact and I was very pleased. It has been a wonderful year.
